Applications of Wireless Technology
Wireless communication or wireless technology involves the
transfer of information over a certain distance without the use
of wires. The distances specified in a wireless network maybe
as little as a few meters or it can span thousands of
kilometers. Wireless communication or simple wireless, is a
branch of telecommunications.
There are several applications of wireless technology. Here
are some of these examples:
-Security Systems
-Television Remote Control
-Cellular Telephone
-Wi-Fi
-Wireless Energy Transfer
-Computer Interface Devices
Wireless security systems have been used for a very long
time. They are often used to replace hard wired elements of a
security system. It is often used for systems for homes and
offices. An example of a wireless security component is a
wireless security camera or a nanny cam. Wireless radios are an
example of this too.
When it comes to wireless technology, the TV remote is
probably one of the most underappreciated. We’ve used it day in
a day out. It is such a significant part of our lives that we
tend to spend long hours with it in our hands. Most remote
controls use a simple infrared system to connect with your TV
screen and to communicate what you want done.
Cellular phones are a good example of wireless technology at
work. This also applies to wireless modems. Mobile phones make
use of radio waves to allow users to make calls. These units
transport both voice and data over wireless networks.
One of the more popular type of wireless technology is
Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), also commonly known as
Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi also serves as a telecommunications network that
connects people to the internet, to offline networks, and to
certain devices.
Another example of wireless technology is that of Wireless
Energy Transfer. This involves the transmission of electrical
energy from a power source to an electrical load.
Eelctrodynamic induction is a popular form of Wireless Energy
transfer.
Computer interface devices also make use of wireless
technology. This came about roughly towards the end of the 20th
century and the first decade of the 21st century. It acted as
an answer to an aversion towards cord clutter. Nowadays, there
are wireless keyboards, wireless mouse, and other wireless
devices available in the market.
